Dr. Seth Greenberg
Music educator, professional guitarist, musicologist

Hi, I’m Dr. G

For over 30 years I’ve taught everyone from 4-year-olds taking their first strum to professional musicians. Learning has no age limit; I have taught retirees well into their 80s who always wanted to play music.

I’ve performed more than 2,500 concerts across the U.S., Europe, and Asia — from big stages to intimate weddings — and I still perform regularly today.

I’m also the author of eight published guitar books used by teachers and players worldwide. Every lesson uses the same clear, proven methods drawing from decades of experience.

Whether you want to play your first chords, improvise beautiful solos, or simply make music you love, I’ll create a custom plan that fits your musical interests.

Guitar Lessons

For more than 30 years I’ve taught hundreds of acoustic and electric guitarists — from absolute beginners to working professionals and retirees picking up the guitar for the first time.

Every lesson builds on the last. We start with solid fundamentals and quickly move into the music you love — whether that’s rock, blues, jazz, classical (Renaissance through modern), folk, country, funk, R&B, reggae, pop, or anything in between.

Lessons incorporate your favorite styles, songs and artists.

Available both online (worldwide) and in-person in the Claremont area.

Music Lessons

If you already play an instrument and want to take your musicianship to the next level, I can help.

For over 30 years I’ve guided saxophonists, trumpet players, trombonists, bassists, vocalists, flutists, clarinetists, and pianists through:

• Improvisation (jazz, blues, rock, pop)

• Harmony & music theory (applied, not just on paper)

• Composition & songwriting

• Sight-reading & ear training

Every lesson builds on what you already know and is 100% tailored to your goals — whether you want to solo like your heroes, write your own songs, or better understand the music you love.

Available online (worldwide) and in-person in Claremont and surrounding areas.

Student Recitals

All students can benefit from performing for a recital, regardless of their skill level. Recitals provide experience that practice and lessons alone cannot.

Because more than half of students live across the United States, recitals are conducted online. Each guitar player has eight weeks to prepare for a recital; the lessons during that time focus on preparing the player.

This recent recital video demonstrates the variety of music. Students with the least experience begin the recital with the more advanced ones following.
